Pompeii is still one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world, appealing especially for the rediscovery of the ancient remains of the Roman Empire.

The city was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D., and it was not until the 18th century that archaeological excavations began, gradually bringing to light the splendors of past civilization, such as the fabulous villas full of frescoes or the majestic amphitheater.
